LEFT-footer Aiden O’Connor has already had a taste of the game at an international level and is now honing his skills on a unique college course.
As a Bishop Auckland Junior he reached the final of the Barcelona Cup last year, losing out on penalties.
“We played sides from around the world, from Russian to Columbia,” said Aiden, who is studying a BTEC Sports with football qualification at Darlington College.
“Who knows we could have been playing the future Lionel Messis of the game and it was an amazing experience. Thankfully I scored my penalty.”The 17-year-old, of Spennymoor, divides his time studying in the classroom, training with the Martin Gray Football Academy and playing matches, including his debut for Darlington.
