Having run a successful BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport course in conjunction with Darlington College for the last two years the Martin Gray Football Academy is delighted to announce that this year it has broken all records with a more than 100% increase in new students registering.
Nearly 50 students have this year have enrolled in the level 2 and 3 course centred on the unique Martin Gray Football Academy base in the Eastbourne Sports Complex with their academic pursuits based at the nearby Darlington College.
Martin Gray said “We are delighted with the uptake which reflects the extremely hard work my coaches have put into the development and delivery of this course over the last 24 months”.
“The facilities we have here at Eastbourne are unique to football academies in the region and embrace all weather pitches, multiples of grass pitches, a gym, a dance studio and a computer suite second to non. With a team of highly motivated and superbly qualified football coaches we are able to deliver all aspects of the sport at the highest level at all times”.
“The students play in various local and regional competitive leagues on a Wednesday and four of them have made appearances for the Darlington Football Club first team this past season, such is the level of competence that it is possible to reach on the BTEC course”
Academic studies at the excellent Darlington College campus in Haughton Road are delivered by tutors daily and students who successfully complete the course are able to chose several alternative career pathways including university entry, teacher training and the sports and fitness industry.
Martin adds “We are really looking forward to this new intake and working with the students to develop them with improved football ability at the same time as improving their education and career prospects in the longer term.”
