Job Vacancy – Alternative Provision Senior Support Staff Member

Salary: 16,000-20,000 per year*

Permanent/Full Time Position

(*Final salary will be dependant upon employee experience and satisfactory qualifications.)

The ideal candidate must be committed to: supporting young people, have the core interests of students at the forefront of their mind, pro-actively find new methods or techniques to support student re-integration, be continuously searching for opportunities available to students and be able to follow all in house procedures meticulously. Suitable candidates will be highly motivated, pro-active, have excellent communication skills and be committed to support students accessing our provision.

You must have previous experience of working with students whom possess additional behavioural or SEN needs. Understanding of EHCP’s, individual risk assessments and behavioural risk assessments is desirable.


Candidate Key Responsibilities

  • To develop, co-ordinate, deliver and quality assure a programme of on-site provision for targeted vulnerable students of academic stages: KS2, KS3 and KS4.
  • To address barriers to learning for a targeted group of individual students in order to enable them to achieve their full potential within the Alternative Provision Programme.
  • Ensure that feedback to Senior Staff is comprehensive on the progress of all students in the Alternative Provision Programme.
  • Compile all necessary monitoring reports for SLT and to ensure the effective transfer of data between the provision and our local schools or education providers.
  • Ensure that record keeping in relation to individual casework and team activities is maintained to the required standard and statistical data is readily available for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
  • Manage the transition and reintegration (where appropriate) for all students within the Alternative Provision.
  • Actively promote the safety and welfare of our children and young people and log any concerns using the correct in house protocols.

Essential Criteria

  • Ability to be flexible and able to support sessions at short notice
  • A valid First Aid Qualification
  • Work to a consistently high standard in line with company policy
  • Be able to maintain professional boundaries with both staff and students
  • Ability to communicate orally with a range of different audiences
  • Ability to work under pressure and with students whom have SEN or additional needs
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and effectively part of a team
  • Experience working with students who possess challenging behaviour
  • L1 & L2 or equivalent in education/child-based qualifications
  • A Full UK driving license
  • A clean DBS


Desirable Criteria

  • L1/L2 Team Teach Qualification
  • Safeguarding & Prevent Trained
  • Ability to work some evenings or weekends (overtime may be offered)
  • Have previous experience working with students in KS2/KS3 in a school or alternative provision setting
