Can you tell us about how you came to be part of the MGFA team?
I’ve always had a passion for football and coaching, on leaving secondary school at 16, I completed my Level 1 FA coaching badge alongside studying a Level 3 Sports Course at Darlington College. Straight after I finished college, I went into full time coaching with MGFA.
Can you tell us a bit more about your career journey and experiences so far?
I’ve played football since I was very young, in and around a standard of playing and coaching and really enjoyed it. Now at 22, I still enjoy the game, but I’m now focussed a lot more on work and developing my coaching skills. I’m now a level 3 UEFA B coach and I’m really enjoying the challenge. Receiving my UEFA B early on in my coaching career made me extremely proud.
How did you prepare for work in the sector?
By playing football and learning skills from my dad and other coaches. By doing this it allowed me to see a variety of different coaching standards and witness the dedication and commitment to the sport that coaches have. I enjoy seeing how each coach has their own unique style and use this knowledge to improve my own standard of coaching.
What do you enjoy most about being an MGFA Coach?
Not many people can truly say they can enjoy work, but I love going to work every day and being part of a strong team of good people, who also share a passion for coaching and football.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Hobbies, interests?
I love mountain biking, surfing, paddle boarding, hiking, motorsports anything out of the ordinary- I love the adrenaline rush I get from extreme sports.
